Do you have a catalogue of dresses currently in your showroom?

The Vintage Wedding Dress Company lives up to its name by selling one-off Vintage pieces. Re-stocking is therefore frequent and to avoid disappointment we do not have a catalogue of the dresses that are currently in our showroom. We do have a gallery under the Brides heading which shows pictures of our clients in dresses that we have sold from past selections. We may have dresses in stock that are similar, so it is always worth enquiring.

Alongside our unique Vintage collection, however, we do now have our own new Vintage-style pieces, which you can see under Collections.

Do you sell dresses online? And can I hire a dress from you?

SORRY, WE DO NOT SELL DRESSES ONLINE. WE SELL DRESSES ONLY BY PRIVATE APPOINTMENT. We do not hire out dresses.

Do you sell bridesmaids' dresses?

We do not currently stock bridesmaids' dresses. Sometimes our less formal dresses have been bought for a bridesmaid but we do not recommend a visit to us for this reason alone.

Do you stock accessories?

We hold a collection of coats, capes, veils, headpieces, bags and jewellery. If you wish to come purely for accessories, your appointment will last half an hour only. If you are looking for something specific, please contact us for information on the accessories we are currently holding.

What sizes do you have in your collection? Is it possible for me to alter a dress if it does not fit me?

At The Vintage Wedding Dress Company we try whenever possible to source a wide and varying selection of sizes for our original Vintage collection. Our stock of dresses ranges from size 6 (UK) up to size 16 (UK). We do occasionally find the odd gem in sizes 18 and above so it is always worth contacting us.

It goes without saying that if you are a size 8 - 10 you will have the pick of the entire showroom as with a full alteration service we can take in and adjust most pieces that we hold. That said it is also possible in the majority of cases to add panels and enlarge a smaller dress if you find one that you love. We will be able to advise you of the suitability of a dress for alteration during your private appointment with us.

Our new Vintage-style pieces are available in sizes 8 - 16 with a full alteration service available to make sure your dress fits you perfectly.

How much will my alterations cost should I need them?

Our seamstresses are highly skilled and have specialised experience in repairing and altering delicate Vintage dresses. While we can offer you a wide range of services to alter your dress, the price will vary dependent on the work required.

Dresses bought from us - To allow us to give you a fair and all-inclusive price, our dresses are allocated levels depending on their construction complexity. Each level comes with a specified number of fittings and a collection appointment; prices are then detailed within a personal alterations' booklet for all the work you require.

Dresses purchased elsewhere - We offer the same comprehensive and specialised service for customers whose dresses were purchased elsewhere but require our unique expertise. As with our own dresses we will allocate a level to your dress, enabling us to give you a quotation and price list of work to be potentially carried out.

As explained above we offer a wide number of services ranging from a simple length adjustment, fitting a dress to make it smaller or adding panels to enlarge it, to a complete re-style of a neckline or the addition or removal of sleeves. We also offer more bespoke work, sourcing and dyeing fabrics and trims, beading and re-designing to your exact specifications. Styling and accessories advice during your fittings are included in the cost.

What is the price range of your dresses?

Our original Vintage dress prices start at £950.00. We have around 50 dresses in our collection at any one time and a good selection of prices up to £4,000. We do hold a number of very rare and collectable dresses at £4,000+.

Our new Vintage-style collection of made-to-order dresses starts at £1250.00.

How far in advance before my wedding do I need to find my dress - especially if it may need alterations?

As we are not a traditional bridal boutique we do not require our customers to start their dress fittings quite so far in advance. Our alteration service is available for last minute adjustments especially if you are available to attend appointments on a weekday. Saturdays can be more booked up particularly during the early summer months. We recommend that you try to allow 6-8 weeks before your wedding for your first fitting appointment. Our alterations department does however offer an express service for those with under two weeks to go before their wedding; this will incur an extra 20% charge on top of the work required.

I cannot find your full address on your website. Can I pop in to view the collection or do I need to make an appointment?

Please note we are not a shop. You will need an appointment to view our collection at our private showroom. We will send you full location details once your appointment is confirmed.

Private Showroom Appointment Times:

  • Tuesday: First appointment 5pm - last appointment 7.30pm
  • Thursday: First appointment 5pm - last appointment 7.30pm
  • Friday: first appointment 10am - last appointment 4.30pm
  • Saturday: first appointment 10am - last appointment 4.30pm
  • Sunday: first appointment 11.30am - last appointment 5.30pm
