Alterations
We provide a full in-house alteration service.
Our seamstresses are highly skilled and have specialised experience in repairing and altering delicate Vintage dresses. We will work with you to adapt the piece you have chosen into your perfect wedding gown. Changes can range from a simple length adjustment, fitting a dress to make it smaller, adding panels to enlarge a smaller dress, to a complete re-style of a neckline or the addition or removal of sleeves. We also offer more bespoke work, sourcing and dyeing fabrics and trims, beading and re-designing to your exact specifications. Styling and accessories advice during your fittings are included in the cost.
Dresses bought from us – To allow us to give you a fair and all-inclusive price, our dresses are allocated levels depending on their construction complexity. Each level comes with a specified number of fittings and a collection appointment; prices are then specified within a personal alterations booklet for all the work you require.
Dresses purchased elsewhere – We offer the same comprehensive and specialised service for customers whose dresses were purchased elsewhere but require our unique expertise. As with our own dresses we will allocate a level to your dress, enabling us to give you quote and price list of work to be potentially carried out.
If you would like to book a consultation or require further information on services and pricing please email alterations@vwdc.co.uk or call 07507 793 734.
Terms and conditions of alterations service
1. The fitting charge (level dependent) will be payable at your first fitting. The cost of the alteration work undertaken will be payable on completion at your final collection appointment. Payment in the form of instalments will not be accepted. Payment can be made by most major credit and debit cards; we do not accept cash or cheques.
2. We have Insurance cover while your dress is in our care up to the value of your purchase; however, due to the nature of our product, we reserve the right to offer you a replacement and not a cash refund in the event of a liability situation. If you require greater protection, we would advise you to cover your wedding dress on your personal household or wedding insurance policy.
3. For us to take immediate storage of your dress you must book your first fitting appointment within a three month period from the date of purchase. A period of four months is then allowed for the alterations' completion. Any dresses that fall outside this timeframe must be taken away and stored by the customer until the date of their first fitting with us. The alterations department recommend you leave at least three months before your wedding for any alterations. If you require an express alteration, which is classified as within one month, it will incur an additional charge of 20% of the final total.
4. On the payment of your final total, you will be required to sign a form stating that you have inspected your dress fully and are satisfied with the work that has been completed. All payments are final and we do not offer refunds or resell dresses on your behalf if you change your mind.
